Yoga

Yoga is an ancient science of understanding the Self. It is the art of listening inwards to experience who we really are. The physical practices are there to guide us in exploring our physical, mental and emotional well being. Every thought, feeling and action we have reflects how we feel about ourselves and determines how we interact with our world. By learning to move with our awareness in the present moment, we replace doing with being and connect to the vital energy that sits at our very core. What arises from this practice is therefore more than just physical strength or mental wellbeing. What arises is acceptance, surrender and a liberating sense of trust in the mystery of life.

We choose the name yoga Swaha in the spirit of our intention as teachers. In Tibetan language it can be translated at so be it, an expression of humility and respect for the wisdom of life. Swaha is basically a tribute to the devas (gods and goddess) requesting their blessings, empowerment etc, and is appropriate for anyone to use. So for a general purpose when we just wish to chant a mantra to please god we use Swaha – means I bow to you o lord. We share a feminine practice: a non-aggressive, non-competitive and self-loving approach. Our intention is to live life as authentically as we are able to in each moment, sharing our current experience and understanding of yoga whilst remaining open to the continuous learning and growth that arises from committing to truth.
